What Is Labradorite?

Labradorite (a relative of moonstone) is a popular mineral stone and a member of the feldspar family. It was first discovered in Canada but appears in other locations throughout the world. It is known for its labradorescence. This labradorescence is what creates refraction of light in the stone, making it truly dazzling to look at.

The stone is usually shades of gray, green, teal, dark gray, black or gray-white, and is composed of layers. The layers are what refract light and create iridescent flashes of other colors like blue, gold, pale green, or red. Rare varieties of labradorite include golden labradorite, which has a transparent champagne color, and spectrolite (also referred to as black moonstone), which displays the entire color spectrum. Spectrolite was first found in Finland in the 1940s.

These lovely stones are associated with the astrological signs: Aquarius, Capricorn, Pisces, and Sagittarius. Traditionally, labradorite is thought to bring good luck.

Uses, Purposes, and Healing Properties of Labradorite

This is a very spiritual and mystical stone that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Its magical flashing of light is said to separate the waking world from the unseen ones. It is described as a stone of magic used through history by shamans, empaths, healers, diviners, and those who travel on a spiritual path; embracing the universal knowledge and guidance available to all.

It is a preferred mineral stone for awakening awareness of inner spirit, psychic abilities, and intuition. Labradorite is also known as being the most powerful protecting stone, shielding one's aura while strengthening and preserving the natural energies within.

Wearing labradorite protects others from taking your energy, and can help heal tears in your aura while healing energy leaks from the aura field. It enhances mental and intuitive abilities, telepathy, clairvoyance, prophecy, and coincidence control while assisting communication with higher guides and spirits. It permits a safe and grounded return to the present when moving between worlds or astral projection and out of body experiences.

Labradorite for the Throat Chakra

Labradorite stimulates the throat chakra, the voice of the body and soul, as well as artistic expression. When the throat chakra is open, we can effortlessly express what we think and feel. We're able to easily communicate our emotions, beliefs, and ideas, which allows us to bring personal truth to the world without judgment. Labradorite, especially spectrolite, unites all of the chakras within the body.

Psychological Benefits

A labradorite stone will reduce the incessant chatter of an overactive mind, while energizing creativity and imagination, bringing forth new ideas and interests. When you feel stuck in a rut, keep labradorite near. It will bring back spontaneity and joy while reducing the emotional drain of the daily grind and lighten your load when you feel overburdened by responsibility. Watch how it awakens your senses to change, adventure, and new possibilities.

Labradorite also brings to light forgotten memories, and aids in understanding past hurts and mistakes. It provokes introspection and deep contemplation to provide clarity and understanding, intuitive wisdom, and intellectual thought in a peaceful manner. Banish insecurities and fears while enhancing reliance on oneself and trust in the universe.

The color energy of labradorite is primarily blue; almost appearing to glow. Blue helps us accept our lives in their current state, gain patience, promote harmonious relationships, and seek forgiveness. Blue is an excellent color to encourage recovery from destructive patterns and addictions. It calms tempers, and helps deal with grief, loss, guilt, and helps release you from the bondage of the past.

Thanks teaches. I love it. It is my new favorite. I've noticed that my dreaming has become more active since using it. I am a sleepwalker and previously used medication to avoid sleepwalking, but the more I explore my spiritual path, the more I welcome this strange thing I've been plagued with since 12 yrs of age.
