Most people are able to recognise and name many varieties of precious and semi-precious stones. They may have a favourite stone and even own a piece of jewelry featuring one or more of these beautiful stones. However, most people are unaware of the true power of natural crystals and that they have the ability to heal and improve ours lives.

If you wish to try healing with crystals, you do not need any expensive or specialist equipment or even a huge collection of different stones. You can start out with one stone that you need and build up a collection as you go or you may wish to buy a small selection that you are familiar with or are relevant to your life. Raw and polished crystals can be used and are neither is more effective that the other. These differences are purely cosmetic and have no impact on the vibrational rates or energy of the crystal. In some instances certain types of crystals may be preferable: for example, a smooth stone may be more comfortable to wear against the skin and a pointed crystal wand is an excellent tool in directing energy to specific spots. These are by no means essential, and it is far more important to use stones you are comfortable with. Do not worry about having to spend a lot of money on expensive large stones or those set into jewelry. Crystals can be carried in your pocket, placed in your bath or under your pillow and used during meditation. It is important to remember that crystals absorb and hold negative and stale energy and so should be cleansed to remove this. This process is sometimes known as clearing and can be carried out in many ways including smudging, using water, by moon or sun light and using other crystals.

There are many methods that can be used to employ crystals in healing. For direct healing of an ailment such as a headache or muscle pain, crystals can be placed directly on the skin. In the case of more general issues such as promoting a calming atmosphere or counteracting electromagnetic pollution and geopathic stress, crystals can be placed in the room on a table, shelf or similar surface. Effective healing can often be achieved with indirect contact such as carrying a crystal in your bag or pocket or placing them under your pillow or at each corner of your bed. These methods can be especially useful for treating babies and small children as it may be unsafe for them to keep the crystals with them. Another safe method would be to use large tumbled stones so that there is no danger of crystals or parts of them being swallowed.

Crystal healing can be used to heal physical, emotional, mental and spiritual issues. It is safe to be used alongside other forms of alternative or conventional medicine. It is very important not to stop taking or change doses of prescribed medications without the guidance of appropriate professionals as this can be dangerous. It could make the situation worse or in extreme cases be fatal.
