I have studied crystal healing for many years and have studied and been attuned to reiki levels one, two, and masters.

Our daily lives provide lots of opportunities for communicating with the people around us, whether they are friends, family, colleagues, passers-by, or individuals we come into contact with through public transport, leisure activities, shops and businesses, or other day-to-day activities. However, these interactions with other people are not always easy and can be affected by a variety of things including how we are feeling at the time as well as the relationship we have with the other people involved. For many people, communication can also be difficult due to medical conditions or issues such as shyness, lack of confidence, and anxiety.

The throat chakra is located in the throat and is linked to our self-expression, creativity and communication of all kinds. Ensuring that the throat chakra is well balanced will allow a person to communicate well and freely whether that is by speech or through writing. Harmony in this chakra can also help a person to express themselves creatively such as through music or art. Blockages and imbalances in the throat chakra can have a negative effect on a person's confidence and may make it difficult for them to express their thoughts and emotions or to ask for what they need in life. Creative blocks can also be a result of unbalance in this chakra. The throat chakra is connected not only to our ability to communicate through speech, but also with our listening and non-verbal communication skills as well.

The throat chakra can benefit hugely from the application of crystals in order to keep it healthy and balanced. Blue crystals such as blue lace agate, sodalite, lapis lazuli, aquamarine, and blue topaz are especially effective and can help in resolving issues with verbal and non-verbal communication. In addition to helping with communication with other people, the throat chakra is also important in communicating with ourselves and self knowledge. It helps us to regulate our own mental chatter and to better understand signals received from throughout the body. When the throat chakra is functioning well, it aids us in expressing ourselves not only through spoken words but creatively such as through poetry, music, dance, and art. Considering how important the throat chakra is to our ability to communicate, it is easy to see how any issues that disrupt its function will have a negative effect on us and our relationships. A poorly functioning throat chakra may make it difficult to understand what other people are trying to say and can lead to misinterpretation and misunderstandings.

Keeping the throat chakra healthy and well-balanced does not have to involve complex or time consuming practices and can be as simple as singing in your morning shower or singing or humming along to the radio as you drive to work. These both help to keep energy flowing through this chakra. Spending a little time using crystals is also very beneficial and again does not have to be overly complicated. Wearing a blue crystal on a short chain around your neck is one very simple way to utilise the energy of crystals and there are many beautiful varieties that cover all shades of blue. If you wish to chose a darker coloured stone, blue goldstone, sodalite, lapis lazuli, blue howlite and turquoise would be great choices and for lighter shades, crystals include blue lace agate, blue quartz, angelite and celestite. All of these crystals can also be used to gentle massage the throat area or can be placed there for a short periods, perhaps as you lay in a relaxing bath or before getting up in the morning.

Preparing and Using a Gem Essence

It is also possible to benefit from the properties of crystals by making and using a gem essence. These can be prepared simply using items that you are likely to already have it your kitchen. Care should be taken with this method as not all types of crystals are suitable for immersing in water and can be damaged. In these cases the indirect method can be used. To do this place the crystal into a small bowl or glass and place that into the water.

1. First cleanse the crystal to ensure all negative and stake energy has been removed.
2. Immerse the crystal in a glass bowl that has been filled with spring water. Leave the bowl in sunlight for at least four hours and no more than twelve hours.
3. When this time has passed, remove the crystal from the water. Pour the water into a glass bottle and seal tightly. Label the bottle with the crystal name and the date that the essence was created. Gem essences should be stored in a cool dark place.

If you wish to make a gem essence that will last longer than a week or two this can be done using a mixture of water and a high proof clear alcohol such as vodka. Measure the amount of water used carefully and before bottling the essence add the same volume of alcohol, then pour into the bottle as normal. For example, if you have immersed the crystal in 250ml (8.5fl oz) of water, you should add 250ml (8.5fl oz) of alcohol. This will help to preserve the gem essence.
Gem essences can be used directly on the body as needed. For example, a small amount can be dabbed onto the throat before meetings or appointments in order to help you clearly communicate your needs and wishes. They can also be added to bath water or placed in a spray bottle and used as a room spray.

How to Use Turquoise to Improve Self-Expression

Turquoise has long been considered a sacred stone and was used in many cultures and religions including in ancient Egypt and among Buddhist monks. This stone is associated with the upper lungs and throat chakra and has beneficial qualities linked to self-expression, courage, releasing inhibitions and in calming the nerves. Wearing turquoise can help a person to overcome fear of public speaking and give them the courage to speak up for themselves and say how they truly feel or ask for what they need. Wearing a pendant on a short chain so that it hangs over the throat chakra is an ideal way to benefit from this stones abilities. Wearing a turquoise bracelet will help to ensure a good and smooth flow of energy through the bodies meridians and allow you to communicate freely.

Crystal Voice Warm Up Technique

This exercise will help to open the throat chakra and keep energy flowing through it freely. It can be used any time you feel you need and have a few moments to yourself. The crystals that are best for use in this technique are blue lace agate, sodalite and lapis lazuli tumbled stones (smooth polished crystals).

1. Stand or sit in a comfortable position holding your chosen crystal.
2. Hold the crystal gently at the base of the throat.
3. Breathe in through your nose and then exhale slowly through your mouth.
4. Breathe in deeply through your nose and allow your lungs to fill. As you exhale make a slow and relaxed 'ahhhhhh' sound.
5. Repeat step number four five times.

How to Use Aquamarine to Aid Communication

Aquamarine is an excellent choice of stone for any time that you feel unable to communicate your needs or voice your true opinions. This crystal increases self-knowledge, aids creative self-expression, reduces stress, balances the emotions and enhances our ability to understand others.

In order to use aquamarine to harmonise or unblock the throat chakra you will need one aquamarine crystal. This can be a polished smooth stone, also known as a tumble stone or a raw specimen. Lay comfortably on your back in a quiet room with your crystal in one hand. Concentrate on the stone and feel its calm and courageous energy, close your eyes and hold the aquamarine to your throat. Hold the stone in place and as you do think about the issues you are having relating to communication, concentrate on these and think about how you could resolve them. Let the crystals calming energies wash over you as you think about these issues and continue the exercise for five minutes. Slowly come back to the room and open your eyes when you feel ready and at ease. This exercise can be repeated as often as you wish but it is important to cleanse the crystal after each use. For particularly tough issues you may need to repeat it every day for a week or two in order to feel the full benefits. A kyanite crystal can be used in this way and is especially beneficial for when you need to speak the truth of a situation no matter how difficult.

I actually cured a chronic condition with an elixir. At the time I did not know that generally you only take them drops at a time. I just drank the whole 8 -10 ounces of water a day.

You're very welcome. I have a strong interest in ancient Egypt and totally agree with you about lapis and Egypt. It also makes me think of the sky at night.

Oh I liked this a lot. I wear a sodalite stone pendant often and have used it to aid in opening my throat chakra...this was right up my alley! Lapis is one of my favorite stones...I always feel a strong connection to Egypt when I'm holding lapis. Thanks for this one!
