What Is Your Third Eye?

The third eye is your chakra center that is located in your forehead. The third eye is also connected to your pineal gland and is what gives you your intuition and third sight. For various reasons, this can get shut down or blocked. It is up to you to open it and keep it open!

Opening Your Third Eye

These are exercises you can do in addition to the chakra meditation. The chakra meditation is for all chakras, but these exercises help specifically with the third eye and developing your psychic abilities.

I am giving you three exercises to do to open your third eye. You can use whichever one works best for you. All three start out the same way as far as preparation. When you are envisioning these things, remember that they are in your mind's eye. If you are the type that has a hard time visualizing . . . don't worry, it will come to you. Practice and patience is key!

Exercise 1

  • Sit in a dark room or dimly lit room.
  • Prepare like you are meditating. Ask the divine spirits, spirit guides, and angels to be with you and state your intention.
  • Intention: I am cleansing my third eye and opening up to what I need to currently know for the greater good. Now, this is where it starts getting different from just plain meditation.
  • Picture yourself in a room in your mind. This room has a window shaped like an eye. This eye is cloudy and dirty. You wipe away the dust and grime and the window slowly starts to open. You are now seeing outside the window into the room you are physically in. When it becomes clear, you are done.

A Room in Your Head

This is something I picked up from a book by Karla McLaren. I have adapted the exercise as the years have gone by. This is good to use in meditation or even on those really busy, crazy days when you just need a minute to escape and you are stuck at your desk, in your office, in the classroom, etc.:

  1. Close your eyes.
  2. Take deep breaths.
  3. Imagine your perfect room in your head. It can be anything you want, but make sure it's comfy and represents you.
  4. The only requirements for this room will be a comfy place to sit and a window.
  5. Imagine this window to be where your third eye is (center of forehead).
  6. The chair is in front of the window. You go to this chair when you need to escape.
  7. In your mind's eye, you see yourself sitting in this chair and looking out the window.
  8. Out this window, you see what is going on in the physical space you are inhabiting.
  9. Within the room, all is calm and peaceful or dimly lit.

Exercise 2

  • Sit in a dark room.
  • Prepare like you are meditating. Ask the divine spirits, spirit guides, and angels to be with you and state your intention.
  • Intention: I am cleansing my third eye and opening up to what I need to currently know for the greater good.
  • Now, this is where it starts getting different from just plain meditation.
  • Picture an eye on your forehead. It is closed and crusty.
  • Picture that the film or whatever is covering the eye is falling away slowly.
  • The eye starts to open slowly and you can see clearly into the room.

Exercise 3

  • Sit in a dark room or dimly lit room.
  • Prepare like you are meditating. Ask the divine spirits, spirit guides, and angels to be with you and state your intention.
  • Intention: I am cleansing my third eye and opening up to what I need to currently know for the greater good.
  • Now, this is where it starts getting different from just plain meditation.
  • Picture the eye of Horus floating in your dark space.
  • Imagine the eye opening and then combining with your own third eye on your forehead.

Practice Makes Perfect

Sometimes, you have to be patient for this. It may not always work for you the first time, but don't give up. It takes time, practice, and patience. It does get easier and clearer. You will know when your third eye is open. Sometimes, the senses become sharper. Sometimes, there may be sparkles of light.

Why Is the Third Eye Important?

First of all, the third eye is one of the main 7 chakras. I also like to do regular chakra tune-ups to help keep things going smoothly. Secondly, your third eye is what helps your intuition. It is important to use your intuition and develop your psychic abilities in this lifetime.
