Meditation, in its purest form, is quintessentially the spiritual life. The spiritual life/Yoga, is a way of living, practice or worship, which teaches us how to know our true Self, consciously and ceaselessly, 24-hrs a day for all eternity.
We are souls by nature and the soul is part and parcel of the Absolute, what we call God. The merging of the individual soul with the Soul Supreme, the Godhead, as One, is the aim of Meditation. It is called Self or God-realisation.
The tenets of the Spiritual life, as we find in the various scriptures, are necessary to know God: self-giving, simplicity, sincerity, purity, gratitude and a host of others which will become apparent as our life of prayer and meditation deepens.
