Vitamin D Deficiency Can Be Linked to the Blahs
Sonal Pathak, MD, an endocrinologist at Bay Health Endocrinology in Dover, Del., did a study of three women that suggested vitamin D deficiency and the blahs may be linked and supplements may help relieve some of the symptoms. Dr. Pathak presented her findings at The Endocrine Society's 94th Annual Meeting in Houston.
Three women, with moderate to severe cases of the blahs, aged 42 to 66, were in Dr. Pathak's study. All were taking antidepressants and were also being treated for type 2 diabetes or an under active thyroid gland. All three were deficient in vitamin D.
The women received vitamin D therapy for eight to 12 weeks. After the therapy, the women reported improvements in symptoms of the blahs.
A study, conducted by Sonal Pathak, MD, suggests vitamin D deficiency and the blahs may be linked and supplements may help relieve some of the symptoms.
Get Some Sun or Take Some Vitamins
